First Line Friday – Warrior of the Kizan

Nephilim: Corruption: A Christian Space Princess Novel

by Ann Margaret Lewis

[Previously available under the title Warrior of the Kizan.]

Death, death . . . The crunch of the snow said the word to him over and over.

I can hear this first line. The crunch of hardened snow beneath boots in a steady rhythm as he plods along. Death, cold and foreboding – again and again. It sets a tone for the book and what we can expect. Is it a death from the past that haunts this character, the threat of near death, or death in the future? Or all three? His own death or someone else’s?

What’s the first line of the book you’re reading? Or the book nearest to you?

  1. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog I’m sharing the first couple of lines from No Greater Love by Gina Holder. It’s a really good book! I’m currently on chapter 25, so I’ll share the first line from there.

“If his sister fluffed his pillow one more time, Hamilton was going to lose his last shred of sanity.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend. 😀❤📚

  2. Today on my blog I’m featuring the first line from No Greater Love by Gina Holder but It’s also my current read so I’ll share the first line from chapter 15 here: “Kathleen tucked her legs under the steering wheel of her rental.” Hope you have a great weekend with lots of reading time!

  3. My first line is from The Express Bride by Kim Woodhouse:
    Prologue:
    St. Louis, March 1834
With shaking limbs, she climbed into the plush carriage awaiting her, the precious bundle in her arms worth far more than the money, trinkets and trunks of clothing she left behind.
Wonderful book. Check out the whole series of The Daughters of the Mayflower.

    • I’m currently on Book 2 of the series! I listened to The Pilgrim Bride by Kimberley Woodhouse (timed perfectly with our trip to Boston) and am currently listening to The Pirate Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo. I’m working my way toward The Express Bride!

  4. Happy Friday! My first line is from “Edge of Truth” by Kimberly Rose Johnson:

“The hair on Kara Nelson’s neck prickled as she sat behind the wheel of her car parked near the Miami Beach Marina. Something wasn’t right.”

  5. That’s quite the first line! I’m sharing from The Crossing at Cypress Creek by Pam Hillman on my blog today. I’m only a few pages in, and this is my favorite line so far:

“Her stomach did a slow roll at the unexpected lilt of an Irish brogue.”

    • I’ve read lots of good things about this book! It’s been a while since I’ve read one of Jody Hedlund’s books. She writes them faster than I can read them.
